Strengthening education and research

The MOLIT Institute is intensifying its long-term cooperation with Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences (HHN) in the two future-oriented application fields of quantum computing and Human Centered AI. The aim is to more closely interlink the practical training at the university with the research fields of the MOLIT Institute.

Future field of Human Centered AI

The cooperation in the future field of Human Centered AI will allow questions in personalized medicine to be investigated with the help of artificial intelligence, especially for diagnostics and clinical decision support. HHN and the MOLIT Institute are working together with the SLK clinics in order to put research findings into practice as fast as possible. This combines the data science approach in the I³ concept (in vivo, in vitro, in silico) of the MOLIT Institute with the computer science studies at HHN.

Future field of quantum computing

Quantum computing as a future technology is highly interesting for use in medicine. The MOLIT Institute provides biomedical applications for this future field, particularly in the simulation of complex molecular biological models. The cooperation with the HHN enables the practical training of students in the context of final theses and practical semesters and opens up access to new research questions. Together with the experts at HHN, a new field of research and education can be developed and advanced with realistic application scenarios. For practical training and research, a jointly operated quantum computer is being planned at the I³-Lab facility, which can also be used with other partners in the region.

The strategic goal is to jointly establish the two future fields in the region. The cooperation partners will use the promotion of young academics, joint research proposals and networking with other players as tools to achieve this.
